How do I start getting email alerts when dockets are added to a PACER case?
To start receiving email alerts simply add
a case to your CourtAlert for PACER watchlist. Specify the Court, Docket
Number and the frequency you would like CourtAlert to check the docket.
CourtAlert will check the docket at the frequency you choose, and you will receive
an email alert whenever a new or modified docket entry appears.
Which PACER courts does CourtAlert cover?
CourtAlert for PACER covers all Federal District, Circuit, MDL & Bankruptcy PACER Courts.
What is the cost to add a case on CourtAlert for PACER?
The cost to add a case on CourtAlert for PACER depends on the frequency you choose and the Court type. You can view the pricing for the various frequency alternatives here.
For example, the fee to watch a District case every Thursday is $2.75 each lookup, or about $12 a month. There is no fee for the number of recipients you chose to receive the email alerts. The PDFs you choose to download are at PACER cost, pay once, and you can share them with anyone at your firm for free.
Is there a fee based on the number of recipients that receive the alert? Is there a limit to the number of recipients?

How often does CourtAlert check the PACER docket for updates?
You choose the watch frequency when you add a case to your CourtAlert for PACER Watchlist. CourtAlert can check the docket anywhere from once a month to once every 15 minutes. You can view the various frequency alternatives here. The most common watch frequency is once a day.
Is it possible to have my case monitored on a custom frequency of my choosing? (For example: Every hour from 10 AM to 6 PM on weekdays and once a day on weekends)

What time do you check PACER? Which Time zone?
CourtAlert will monitor the case at the frequency you choose. Cases marked as daily are actually monitored twice a day, at approximately 11 AM and again at approximately 4 PM. The Eastern time zone is selected by default. You can select a different time zone when adding a case to watch along with the helpful option of "Court Local Time" that will use the time zone in which the case is located.
Will anyone know that I'm watching a specific case on CourtAlert for PACER?
CourtAlert for PACER is 100% anonymous. Only you and CourtAlert will know which cases you watch.
How do you I know my Docket Number / Index Number is
correct?
When adding
a case to watch the page will automatically display the case
title once the Court and Docket Number are entered to allow you to verify.
Do I need to share my PACER Username and Password with CourtAlert? (hint: no)
No. CourtAlert will never ask for your PACER credentials. All CourtAlert services use CourtAlert's PACER account. Your PACER account is never used by any CourtAlert services.
Do I need a PACER account to use CourtAlert for PACER?
No. CourtAlert uses its own account to provide 100% anonymous PACER case monitoring.
Can users in my firm be given access to download PDFs from via the CourtAlert.com docket sheet or from the email alerts the receive? How much will that cost?
Absolutely. You can setup "Firmwide Access" to allow all users in your firm access to download PACER PDFs both via the docket sheet on CourtAlert.com and from the email alerts they receive. All documents are at PACER cost and downloaded documents are available to everyone in the firm at no additional cost. How do I view the PACER docket sheet on CourtAlert.com? How much does it cost?
If the case is on your CourtAlert for PACER Watchlist: You can view the docket sheet by clicking on the case Docket Number from your watchlist or from the direct link provided on the email alerts. The docket sheet will automatically be updated based on your watch frequency and there is no cost to view the docket sheet as of the last update.
You can also use
PACER Explorer
to lookup the docket sheet for any PACER case by Venue and Docket Number.
The cost to load the entire docket sheet is $5 for District, Circuit, MDL cases and $7 for Bankruptcy cases. There is no monthly subscription fee to use PACER Explorer.
How do I download PACER documents? How much does it cost?
You can download PACER documents on the CourtAlert for PACER Docket Sheet
(see How do I view the Docket Sheet?)
by checking "Add to Binder" adjacent
to the document and clicking the "Download" button. You can also download document by clicking the provided links
in the email alerts. The document cost is same as PACER, $0.10 / page. Once
downloaded, anyone in your firm can download the document again for free.
How do I download multiple PDFs at once? Is there a size limit when combining PDFs?
You can create PDF "Binders"
on the CourtAlert for PACER Docket Sheet (see How do I view the Docket Sheet?). Select as many documents (and exhibits) you would like and then click "Download
Binder". There is no limit to the number of documents you can include in a
binder. All document will be downloaded at PACER cost and, once a downloaded,
anyone in your firm can download the document again for free.
